Has the Internet made writers of us all?

No.

We were writers before hand. The Internet just allows to write more easily and directly to our audience.

True writing entails having something to say and saying it well, yet so much of what is found on the Internet can best be described as mindless blather.

I disagree. I say that true writing is writing something that someone else wants to read. If one other person is interested in reading what you've written, you're a true writer. If more than one person is interested in reading it, you may be a good writer.

Has the Internet made good writers of us all?
Certainly not. In fact, it encourages bad writing. People don't even bother to spell check and that's something the computer can do for them. There I have to agree with Patrick Wallace that most of it is mindless blather.
