The
Bronze Age
The
Iron Age
The
Agrarian Age
The
Industrial Age
We
now live in the Post-Industrial Age which can be further divided into
The
Atomic Age
The
Space Age
The
Computer Age
The
Information Age
And
Now
The
Creativity Age
In
all but the last case, these ages, and the changes they brought, were
all about how a new physical technology changed the rules of the
game. With the last case, everything has changed. It's not about a
new physical technology. it's about a new mental technology - a new
way of thinking.
The
challenge with the Creativity Age is that it's all about two things
that terrify most people:
Failure
and change
With
the creative answer to a problem, you're going to have to be prepared
to change something and be prepared for it not to work.
This
is really hard for most people.
And
by really hard I mean really, really, really hard. I mean almost
impossible. After training people for their entire lives that failure
and change are terrible, we're now telling them that they are
necessary for our survival in the 21st Century. We have just told
everyone that black is white and white is black.
Until
we fix this problem, we are screwed.
So
where are all the creative people to help fix this?
